The Inaugural Post

Welcome to my blog!  This spring, after much rumination, I decided to start blogging.  My hope is to share my ski-related adventures, artistic undertakings, and various other miscellaneous activities.  I am not the most verbose individual, so this blog is likely to feature more photos than words.  A picture is worth a thousand words though, right?

Spring flew by and I find it hard to believe we're already nearing the end of July.  I'm currently enjoying a recovery week after two quality hard weeks of training, which is why I had some time to piece together my first blog post.  Here is a smattering of pictures from my spring and summer so far.

The women's team during a classic distance rollerski.  This photo definitely
wasn't staged...  Note all the lupines in the background!

More rollerskiing through the undulating hills of East Hardwick with
Caitlin, Emily, and Susan (photo: greenracingproject Instagram).

Lots of pull-ups!  This spring, many of us have been doing a pull-up
challenge with the goal of increasing our max set
(photo: greenracingproject Instagram).

A very large Red trillium (Trillium erectum) that I
found on Lemon's Haunt early this spring.
I've been helping to start a wildflower monitoring
project at the Center and in April we set up a few
monitoring plots.

A patch of Canadian bunchberry (Cornus canadensis) on the lower section
of Race Loop.

Many of my afternoons are spent gardening.

One of our eighty curious chickens.  We
never run out of eggs!  In addition to the
chickens, we also have some pigs and a
flock of geese residing in our field.

Happy pigs

Although it's a bit warm for knitwear, I've been working on a few
projects and recently finished my first Icelandic sweater.
It's amazing how quickly you can knit on large needles!

During our last recovery week, I went camping on Mount Desert Island in
Maine with my mom and sister.  Despite a rainy June, we had splendid
weather and did lots of hiking and biking.  Here's the view from the top of
Penobscot Mountain looking towards Eagle Lake.

Many wildflowers were blooming in Acadia while we
were there.  Here's a Common evening-primrose
(Oenothera bienns).

My sister and me at the top of Day Mountain.  It was so nice to spend
time with my family!

That's all for now.  Thanks for reading!
